I.B. (International Baccalaureate)
by SCRGadmin on Jun.29, 2011, under IB, Our School System
The International Baccalaureate program, operated out of Switzerland, is causing great concern among SMFSD parents and citizens in general. Our investigation of the program pointed out exactly what others already discovered in other cities. Many school parents were never notified that such a program was being implemented. Many School Boards were never notified that the program was being implemented in their school district. Many Superintendents of school districts outright lied to their district’s citizens and school board about the start-up costs and implementation of the program. For now, we will let you judge for yourself. Is such an expensive program justified in today’s economy? Is such a program necessary for education in the United States today? Why all the secrecy? To start your journey to understanding what may be one of the most expensive educational fads to come down the pike since DeNealian handwriting, we offer the following web site:

Thank God stowidiocracy is back. Now we can find out what is going on with this school board and what they don’t want us to know. I often question who is running the school is it the school board or the
Dr Jones and Ms. Bulgrin I think we all know who.
Maybe some of these board members should realize they are possibly up for reelection in November and we the public will have our say on how this system should be dealt with and hopefully not with a bunch of bobbleheads to the administration

We don’t have the money to bus our students to and from the HS; but we can send teachers on vacations to Florida for training! Until we can get our children up & down Graham Road, I doubt we need to worry about their interactions with foreign lands.

If we put the troubling aspects of IB aside, what we’re left with is the superintendent’s attempt to sneak this into the system, and ravage other funds to support his resume builder. So far he has tapped ARRA (Obama money), Title I, ESC (County money)and the district’s charge account. All of these funds can be used for other essentials, instead of for an elitist program that caters to a small number of students.
Up until the time SCRG brought this to light, there has been no attempt to inform the parents and taxpayers about this program. “Community Engagement” is just another empty buzzword. Until we demand the transparency that this board and administration continue to brag about, we will only be willing pawns in this shell game.
For two years, the superintendent applied to the State for waivers for all-day kindergarten, citing “lack of funds.” Meanwhile, at the same time he proceeded to implement the IB program, a costly venture. While mandated all-day kindergarten is now a moot point, it does not diminish the superintendent’s lack of truthfulness.
While the School Board members may have been duped by the superintendent’s and treasurer’s rhetoric, all have had adequate time to get up to speed. November can’t come soon enough.
But remember, August is just around the corner. Do you really want to reward such antics by giving them more funds to waste?

Just a note about IB and it’s universal education system: the US Dept. of Education is already a major donor to this project, as celebrated on the IB Donor webpage. How lovely! Our Federal government funds WORLD education while our local schools feel forced to buy into the same because they need the ARRA money to pay for local education. Talk about double dipping! Hey US Dept. of Ed…how about taking care of those of us at home? Hey SMF…IB is funded with taxpayer money from EVERY level…and they still want more. Wake up people, America’s children are about to be indoctrinated and are footing the bill. Redistribution of wealth, anyone?
