SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT…..Did You Know…?

DID YOU KNOW….?
There is no school record of the School Board approving and adopting the International Baccalaureate Program curriculum.
There is no school record of School Board meeting minutes showing any community meetings that were called to explain I.B.
There is no school record of parental meetings at Indian Trail or Echo Hills to explain the I.B. program.
There are very few school records showing the payments made for the training expenses of personnel for I.B.
There are a few school records showing the payments made for the travel, food and lodging for administrators and trainees for I.B. Most payments are hidden as credit card payments without any known itemization.
If you wanted to learn more about I.B. and possibly remove your child from participating in the program you must have investigated it yourself and notified the school by June 1, 2011.
That even if the money being used to pay for I.B. is coming from ARRA (federal stimulus funds) the costs beyond the funding will be carried by the local taxpayer.
There is no school record indicating the School Board’s approval to spend the stimulus or any other funds for I.B.
Evidently the taxpayer’s of Stow and Munroe Falls are left to surmise that the Superintendent is acting entirely on his own and the School Board does not see the I.B. program as important enough to be bothered with it. Or, possibly, maybe the Board doesn’t know how to reign in expenses and control their employees, a major part of what they were elected to do in our opinion.
Is this what a new ten year, 6.5mil levy is going to get us? Have you even been notified of the levy vote coming up? A few selected residents of the city received a nice post card from the levy committee to remind them to vote. The rest of us are being left in the dark in the hope that a light turn-out will pass the levy.
WE URGE YOU TO VOTE ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 2, 2011, AND REMIND YOUR NEIGHBORS TO VOTE TOO. IT’S IMPORTANT FOR ALL OF US.

That the SMFSD has kept the community more or less in the dark about the IB program is not surprising.
The attitude of public schools across Ohio, indeed across the nation, has degenerated in situation where the attitude of the schools to the community is shut up, send us your tax dollars & kids and we’ll teach ‘em what WE want.

After blowing so much money in the past, blasting through the fed’s stimulus money and getting
“concessions” from teachers and employees, now they want us to pass a huge levy so they can blow it again!
This Super is totally off his medication!

My God, can’t these folks run a simple school system without getting into subterfuge? What’s the big deal? You propose a program and the elected people review it and decide if they want it. There is no need to play around with money or play hide and seek.
I, FOR ONE, WILL NOT VOTE FOR A LEVY UNTIL THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION CHANGES!!!!!

This administration has proven time and again that they feel they are untouchable. With a weak school board and questionable integrity, they have ample opportunity to misappropriate funds. Like “stowbilly”, I will not support another levy until this administration is gone. And that IS in the best interest of the students.

Well, the levy failed. I like many of you voted down because of the officials in charge. However, this is part of a much larger problem. I also am in agreement with stowbilly. The machine needs fixed. Once again, throwing money at a problem that has been in decline for decades and trying to give the machine a paint job just to hide it’s immorality and corruption is not going to work. The voters are aware of this. Unfortunately, we (and I use “we” as a broad reference) keep voting in the people that are directly responsible for these atrocities. Why? Can we pay more attention when it comes time to vote in city council and such entities like that.
The solutions that work and have a chance to turn our education system around are not that hard of a concept to understand. In my opinion, the best way is to privatize them. Attach the tax money that used to go through several levels of bureaucracy before it even reaches the schools to the kids themselves. In other words, the schools would have to compete for the children (money) and maintain a level of success to keep them. It would drastically improve the way kids are taught if the school would have to meet the standards of the parent. Check out John Stossel’s report on Belgium and privatizing schools on youtube.
There is an answer but, we have to get together on how to present all of this in a very visible way, both too get the point across and expose the board of education as well as those in City Hall for the agenda driven leaches that they are…….
